The former England striker has already bagged an award for his podcast this year.
England legend and all round national treasure Peter Crouch is the clear favourite to win Autobiography of the Year at the Telegraph Sports Book Awards.
The 38-year-old striker is priced at even money, expected to scoop an award for his hilarious accounts of life on and off the pitch in How to be a Footballer, 2018's bestselling sports book.
Not short of accolades throughout his career, the man who has scored over 100 Premier League goals and holds the record for the most headed goals in the league’s history is set to be recognised for his writing too.
Crouchy is enjoying plenty of popularity late in his footballing career, hosting an award-winning podcast and recently appearing on both the Graham Norton Show and A Royal Team Talk on the BBC.
Last year’s award was won by Paralympian and award-winning public speaker Martine Wright for her book Unbroken.
Behind Crouch in this year’s shortlist are the likes of Superbike racer Jonathan Rea (4/1) and cricketer Moeen Ali (5/1). Decorated dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin is the only female contender in the list at 6/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: "Crouchy's cult hero status has been confirmed ever since that celebration vs Jamaica and whilst some footballers can disappear toward the end of their careers, his popularity has only increased with the work he is doing outside of the sport.
Being such a well-liked figure will only hold him in good stead when the votes are given for the prestigious book award."
