The opening weekend of the EFL season has already produced some shockers.
The football season is back, and with it so is our weekly Monday Moan competition. Your opportunity to get some relief after a near-miss from the weekend’s sport.
Clearly Oddschecker followers have been storing up their bad luck over the summer; our opening Monday Moan was one for the ages!
We start with one away from the football and we can’t be too sympathetic here as @nicholasfrost walked away with £135 to accompany the tail between his legs. However, it could have been a cool £900 if Chakrii had obliged by getting his nose in front on the line at Chelmsford…
Ok I did win £135. But missed out on £900 by a nose in the last leg (near side)... pic.twitter.com/E79wZ7qrmY

Next, it’s a few that fell foul to this weekend’s ultimate coupon killer, the Community Shield.
Man City & Yes at 13/5 or 5/2 looked like some tasty value to be included in your Sunday multiple. The European champions had other ideas taking the game to penalties. Bad news for the likes of @WHITEO86, @pd_1888 and @hocks2631!

We have to give a mention to @markyt1983 because who doesn’t love an opening weekend BTTS acca. This 69/1 seven-fold was a cracking effort, but Preston are going straight on his black list.
Always one! Preston on the list from this week pic.twitter.com/lF89m98WLw

Finally, we come to the winner of our opening Monday Moan of the season. A tough choice thanks to the sheer lack of luck displayed by Oddschecker followers, but @Craigymalc's opening weekend acca really hit a nerve.
Assambolanga missed pen. Would have paid £1685. pic.twitter.com/P2ajl03JIk

The six-fold relied on Middlesbrough beating newly promoted Luton in the opening game of the Championship season on Friday night. When Britt Assombalonga stepped up to take the penalty that would see Boro take a 4-2 lead in the 81st minute, Craig could be forgiven for thinking the first leg was in the bag.
After Assombalonga missed and the game finished 3-3, he then had to watch as the five remaining results sailed home across three gut-wrenching days. Goodbye £1,685, hello £50 conciliatory free bet.
Look out for our Monday Moan competition over on Twitter every Monday morning at @Oddschecker for your chance to win a £50 Ladbrokes free bet.
