The Gypsy King could soon be the King of the Ring.
A flurry of bets have been placed on the lineal Heavyweight World Champion, Tyson Fury, winning the Royal Rumble 2020.
In the last 24 hours, 81% of all bets in the last 24 hours have backed Fury to emerge victorious from the WWE pay-per-view flagship show.
That’s resulted in bookmakers cutting odds on Fury doing so, from 50/1 into 33/1, making him now as likely as wrestling legend Rey Mysterio.
Fury is massively odds on at the bookmakers to win his one-off fight with bruiser Braun Strowman, with the Gypsy King priced at 1/5 to emerge victorious.
In layman’s terms, that’s an implied probability of 85.7% chance that Fury comes out on top at the WWE’s Crown Jewel event.
On the flip side, Strowman is a 7/2 underdog to beat Fury in his first ever official wrestling bout.
Elsewhere, Roman Reigns is the clear favourite to win the Royal Rumble, held in January 2020, at 9/2. He’s followed by Irish superstar Finn Balor, who’s 10/1 to be the last wrestler in the ring.
Then comes Bray Wyatt at 10/1, followed by Scottish star Drew McIntyre (14/1), Aleister Black (14/1), Big E (14/1), AJ Styles (16/1) and Braun Strowman (16/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Tyson Fury is made for WWE. Standing at 6ft9 with a tongue sharper than the rest of the boxing world put together, the Gypsy King looks right at home in the world of wrestling.
"There has always been an element of theatre surrounding Fury, and his upcoming bout with Braun Strowman is a promotional masterstroke for the Lineal Heavyweight champ.
"If, as expected, the Brit sees off Braun in Saudi Arabia, a crack at the Royal Rumble is potentially on the cards, with punters flocking towards Fury for the ultimate prize - will we see a first-ever Rumble winner from Morecambe?"
