Grays Cup Winner my best chance of a winner at Romford on Friday night

We’ve got six runners at Romford on Friday night and hopefully they’ve all got chances with this being the last Friday night racing before Christmas at the track.

6.28pm Romford: Aero Rackitup (Trap One) and Grays Cup Winner (Trap Four)

Both dogs are in good form. I think I would prefer them being drawn the other way round. I think if either of them break well, I think they are capable. Grays Cup Winner has been breaking well at Nottingham and has come back to a bit of form, so I think he could lead and he is my best chance of the night.
Aero Rackitup rarely runs a bad race and he has been drawn in trap one so you cannot rule him out.

6:43: Romford: Droopys Flight (Trap Five)

He is a new dog. We got him last week. He trialled yesterday and trialled pretty well. He trapped OK, but has a lot of pace to the bend. He ran the first two bends well and just got caught coming to the line. I was delighted with those trials, he is a March pup and he was running in A2s at Newcastle. He was showing really good early pace, but didn’t stay 480m. I spoke to one of my owners and he got in touch with them and did a deal. Hopefully, we have a bit of fun with him. He’s owned by a few lads and he could be a nice Romford dog. I’m excited about him – he’s still a pup and I think there is a lot of improvement in him. I think he is a nice dog for next year. He is running in a tough maiden and one dog has come all the way down from Newcastle (Jumeirah Express) and Mohort Bob also trialled well so it is a tough maiden. We just thought it is our last Friday of Open Racing before next year so we would give him a run. We’ll see how he goes and win or lose, we’ll hopefully have a good year with him next year.

6:58: Romford: Paradise Prince (Trap Six)

He trialled with Droopys Flight yesterday and he went well. He posted a good time coming off the pace and powered away after the line. He is well in himself. I’ve seeded him wide as he kept going wide at Nottingham last time as he wasn’t get a run out the boxes. He is out the way this time drawn in trap six and hopefully he can get a clear run to the first bend. I think it is the best chance he has had recently. He ran well in the Essex Vase recently, he just needs to come away well.

7:36: Romford: Rembrand (Trap Three)

She has been running really well. I stepped her up to a 575m last week and she won an S1 first time up in a reasonable time. She dropped back to 400m yesterday and won really well so she is in great form. She’s running in a 575m maiden and I think she deserves to take her chance. It’s a good maiden with some good dogs. She is pretty badly drawn as she wants to be in trap one, but it’s another run over 575m and we’ll see how she gets on.

9:12: Romford: Ive Got Gears (Trap Five)

She ran superbly last Saturday. She has been a revelation since she has come to me. She has won five of her six races in Graded races at Romford and she won an A1 in her fastest time last week where she broke 24 seconds. It’s a hard contest and it’s a standard contest with Goldies Hoddle and Goldies Linekar, but she deserves to take her chance in a big Friday night Open Race.

It’s been a decent year

I’m really happy with how things have gone this year. We had a good start and then we obviously had to stop because of the lockdown. This year has really been about getting settled and hopefully next year will be a good year. We’ve got some lovely dogs to look forward to including Droopys Flight who will be a nice pup next year. Hopefully, we can have some decent Open Racers in the kennel and we’ve got lots of young pups to look forward. I’m really looking forward to next year.
