Ronnie O’Sullivan is the second favourite with the bookmakers to win snooker’s UK Championship, which gets underway on Saturday at the York Barbican.
The UK Championship is snooker’s eighth ranking event and first Triple Crown event of the 2023/24 season will start on Saturday 25th November and culminate in the final on Sunday 3rd December.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has made it clear this week that he will quit snooker if he is restricted from playing in China, where events are more lucrative but often clash with World Snooker Tour events.
In September, O'Sullivan collected a winner's cheque of £210,000 for triumphing in the Shanghai Masters. However, the 2023 UK Championship remains among the top three tournaments for prize winners, with £250,000 available to the winner.
In fact, only the World Championship at the Crucible pays a bigger first prize of £500,000, while the Masters matches the UK Championship's £250,000.
