Roger Federer wins in Miami and sets his sights on French Open

The 18 time Grand Slam champion is targeting Roland Garros following his win over Nadal in Miami.

Roger Federer has been in fine form this year and today was no different, as he defeated Rafa Nadal in straight sets to claim his first ever Miami Open title. With another win over his rival and another title won this year,

it is looking ever more likely that the 35 year old could finish they year as World Number 1. Something many would have thought impossible in recent years, especially after Federer took a six-month break from the sport in the back end of 2016.

In a post-match interview, the Swiss maestro confirmed he would skip upcoming tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome in order to ensure he is fully fit for the French Open next month. With his only win at the French Open coming 2009, you'd think another slam win would be unlikely on the clay.

However, after making significant changes to his backhand which has allowed him to take the ball much earlier and the high bouncing Nadal forehand no longer having the same effect on what has been Federer's weak spot during his career, there doesn't appear to be many faults in the Swiss's game right now.

With doubts over Nadal's confidence, who is on the way back himself, Djovokiv uncharacteristically out of form and Murray struggling with a wrist injury, Federer certainly looks undervalued at 20/1 to win outright.
