US Open: Kanepi and Schwartzman Most Backed Players

In the last 24hrs Schwartzman received more bets than Nadal and Federer and Kanepi had over a third of all outright bets in the women's draw.

Diego Schwartzman’s impressive victory over Lucas Pouille yesterday has seen his emerge as a favourite amongst punters to win the US Open, with over 20% of all bets placed on the market in the past 24 hours on the Argentine.

Schwartzman has found himself in the “open” side of the draw and with the courts playing slowly, some bookmakers have dropped his odds to as low as 20/1. He opened the competition at 1000/1.

Former champion and fellow Argentine Juan Martin del Potro is fifth favourite at 11/10, while Rafael Nadal remains slight favourite (6/4) over Roger Federer (15/8) to triumph at Flushing Meadows, with the two heavyweights the second and third most popular in that order with the punters over the past day.

The Women’s draw, unsurprisingly, has seen odds drop on Petra Kvitova after she dumped out Garbine Muguruza, and she is now the joint favourite with Karoline Pliskova to win it all at 7/2. Kvitova has drawn 15% of the total bets in the previous 24 hours on this market.

A host of Americans follow in the women’s draw, with Madison Keys and Venus Williams at 7/1, Sloane Stephens at 9/1 and Coco Vandeweghe falling to 12/1, but perhaps the most surprising surge in bets on this market has been on Kaia Kanepi.

Dubbed the “comeback Queen” of this year, Kanepi has accounted for over a third of bets placed on this market in the past day. She is currently as high as 80/1.
