Australian Open Odds: Who is the favourite to win the Australian Open 2024?

The outright market leader for the Men's Australian Open has a greater than 45% chance of winning the tournament according to the best odds through oddschecker.

The action in the main draw at the 2024 Australian Open will kick off on Sunday 14th January and conclude on Sunday 28th January, making it a 15-day event for the first time.

128 players will compete in the first round of both the Men’s Australian Open and Women’s Australian Open, with the draws expected to take place this Thursday.

Who are the favourites to win the 2024 Australian Open?

Novak Djokovic is the big favourite with the bookmakers to win the Men’s 2024 Australian Open at a best price of 6/5 on Sky Bet (implied 45% chance).

Djokovic has not lost a match at Melbourne Park since a fourth round loss to the unseeded Hyeon Chung in 2018, winning the titles in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. He did not take part in the 2022 Australian Open after his visa was cancelled for being unvaccinated against COVID-19.

Iga Swiatek is a smaller favourite in the Women’s 2024 Australian Open draw at a best price of 5/2 on William Hill (implied 28% chance). The 22-year-old Pole is yet to reach the final in Melbourne, with her best result a semi-final defeat to Danielle Collins two years ago.

Swiatek is a four-time major champion, but three of her four Grand Slams came in the French Open at Roland Garros (2020, 2022 & 2023). She beat Ons Jabeur to the 2022 US Open title.

At the time of writing, there are only two other players in the men’s draw with a best price shorter than 10/1 through oddschecker.

Two-time Grand Slam winner and reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is 7/2 on Sky Bet, while 2023 Davis Cup winner Jannik Sinner is 13/2 with several bookmakers including bet365.

Meanwhile, there are four players in the women’s draw shorter than 10/1 including Swiatek. Reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka is 11/2 and 2022 Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina is 7/1.

American teenager Coco Gauff - winner of the Auckland Classic yesterday - has come in from 12/1 on New Year's Eve to a best of 17/2 on QuinnBet (10% implied chance).

Australian Open Tips

The most popular bet for the Men’s Australian Open is now void after Rafael Nadal (25% of the bets since the start of the year) was forced to pull out with a hip injury.

The two others with a greater than 15% share of the bets are Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov – who features in 15% of the betslips and can still be backed at a best price 100/1 on Betfred. The 32-year-old has won 70% of his singles matches at Melbourne Park and reached the semi-finals in 2017.

On the women’s side, it is Rybakina who has taken by far the most bets through oddschecker (24%). The Russian-born Kazakhstani star was beaten in the final last year by Aryna Sabalenka and can still be backed at 7/1 on Midnite.
