While the battle for the winning spot seemed to be between Bulgaria and Portugal, Moldova, who were a huge 100/1 to win, surprised fans with great public support and shot from 110 points to 374 to secure a third place finish.
The win for Portugal was confirmed when 376 points from the public vote gave them a huge total of 758 for a resounding victory over Bulgaria.
On accepting the trophy, Sobral said: "We live in a world of disposal music. Music is not fireworks, music is feeling and this is a vicory for people who make music that actually means something. Lets bring music back."
For the United Kingdom, Lucie Jones finished in 15th place with 111 points. There was a strong reaction from the juries from the former X Factor contestant's performance of 'Never Give Up On You' with 99 points but she may have perhaps experted more than just 12 from the public vote.
