Jon Snow heads the betting to claim the Iron Throne following revelations in episode 5 of season 7.
One scene in the latest episode of Game of Thrones season 7 has caused Jon Snow to become the new favourite to rule Westeros at 5/2, pushing Daenerys Targaryen out to 7/2.
The moment comes when Sam and Gilly are sitting around a table, with Gilly reading the diary of High Septon Maynard. After establishing the meaning of the word annulment, she goes onto to say that Prince Rhaeger annulled his first marriage to marry an unnamed woman in Dorne.
That woman is likely to be Lyanna Stark and although Sam ignores Gilly in the show, that creates huge news in the plot of the Game of Thrones series.
It's widely known that Prince Rhaeger is Jon Snow's father but the assumption was that he captured Lyanna Stark, making Jon Snow a bastard. This new revelation makes it hugely likely that Jon Snow is, in fact, the legitimate son of Rhaeger and Lyanna.
That would make him the legitimate heir to the throne of Westeros and bookies have reacted by cutting his odds to 5/2 from 7/2. Daenerys has been the favourite since the start of season 7 with her and her dragons looking most likely to win the battle for Westeros but should this revelation prove to be true, she will find it hard to dispute Jon's claim to the throne.
