Coles and Peacock lead the Strictly Come Dancing betting

Rev Richard Coles has seen the most bets to win the competition as an unlikely outsider with favourable odds.

Interest in Strictly Come Dancing is as high as ever this year, and Aston Merrygold has been tipped as the early favourite for this year’s competition by bookmakers (3/1) but the bettors themselves have seen more value in outsider options, with Richard Coles receiving 15% of total bets on the market respectively.

Coles is an intriguing gamble at 40/1, and currently the most bets in the market have been placed on him to win it all. Punters from his home in Northamptonshire have shown faith in him as 12% of all bets on Coles have come from this region.

The paralympian Jonnie Peacock has seen his stock rise with the bookmakers as a result of 13% of total bets being placed on him: once priced at 14/1 he is now as low as 8/1 and fifth favourite.

However, the British public still seem to favour those contestants from performing backgrounds, with Merrygold receiving 13% of total bets, Mollie King 11% and Alexandra Burke 10%, but the rise of Coles and Peacock will be keeping them interested the longer they go in the competition.
