The TV entertainer has been backed to be the first celebrity to leave the show
This weekend will see the first couple leave this year’s competition and there is a clear favourite with Oddschecker punters. Brian Conley and his partner Amy Dowden were languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard after their Tango failed to fizz. A score of 16 points sees him alongside Ruth Langsford and just one point behind TV chef Simon Rimmer and Rev Richard Coles.

The bookmakers have Rimmer as the favourite to be eliminated first at odds as short as 2/1 but it’s Conley, who can be backed at 11/4, who has received the most bets from Oddschecker users. Since Saturday’s show, the 56-year-old has received over 28% of all bets in the market, including one three-figure sum at odds of 9/2.
Next on the list is the bookies favourite Rimmer with just under 21% of all bets whilst Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins is third with just over 12%.
Hawkins found herself seventh on the leaderboard after scoring 22 points, with bookmakers lengthening her odds from 7/2 pre-show to as big as 16/1 after her foxtrot. However, the steady stream of support in the betting has seen her odds cut back into 12/1 with some firms ahead of this weekend’s show.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The bookies and the punters are disagreeing here as those sitting at home are piling into Brian Conley being the first Strictly casualty of the series. The 56-year old may not be favourite to leave, but is undoubtedly in danger of an early exit after a meagre opening score”
