The pop star wowed the judges to earn a standing ovation on Saturday night
Oddschecker punters have reacted to Alexandra Burke’s spectacular performance on Saturday night by backing the popstar to win the show. The former X Factor contestant put in a scintillating performance to earn a series-high 36 points from the judges with all four rising to their feet at the end of the performance.
Her performance did not go unnoticed with 23% of all bets after the show aired on Burke leading some bookmakers to cut her odds into 11/4 from 7/2.
Woah, she brought it! Fierce, firey, full of intent. We are truly, #Strictly floored @alexandramusic @gorkamarquez1 pic.twitter.com/1FieHdxeUH

Bookies’ favourite Aston Merrygold again impressed judges and bettors alike, attracting just under 18% of bets while the surprise package of the show so far Debbie McGee continued to impress, accounting for 14% of bets and seeing her odds trimmed to as short as 7/2 having been as big as 25/1 before the series started.
The big losers on the second week appear to be Charlotte Hawkins who despite managing to avoid the dance-off saw her odds drift dramatically from as short as 22/1 pre-show to a mammoth 100/1 and a complete ‘dance disaster’.
Another celebrity who could be looking over their shoulder is Rev Richard Coles who again failed to impress and saw his odds to be the next eliminated tumble to just 11/4 having been 10/1 before the weekend.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: "Despite Alexandra Burke's popularity with judges, viewers and punters she has not been able to dislodge Aston Merrigold from favouritism. McGee has gone from dark horse to front-runner now, with the 58-year old making up the top three in the market in what now looks a three-way contest."
