Scotsman has his odds halved to become the next James Bond

The name's Heughan, Sam Heughan.

Scottish actor Sam Heughan has had his odds halved on becoming the next James Bond, due to his debut spy film premiere and teasing Instagram post.

Heughan is set to star in espionage blockbuster The Spy Who Dumped Me, and fans have been clamouring over his potential appointment as the next Bond.

The Outlander hunk is set to star alongside Mila Kunis and that’s led to a flurry of bets on Heughan becoming the first Scottish Bond since Sir Sean Connery.

The Dumfries and Galloway-born star has attracted 83% of all bets in last 24 hours on who will be the next Bond, more so than favourites Tom Hardy and James Norton.

That’s led to bookies halving odds from 50/1 to 25/1 on him pulling on the infamous tuxedo and replacing Daniel Craig in the franchise.

Heughan sent fans into overdrive with his latest Instagram pic, posing with a tux and gun, racking up over 105k likes in the process.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “The next James Bond market is one of the longest-running novelty markets offered by bookies – and it appears that a certain Scotsman could be in the fold.

“Sam Heughan has received a plethora of attention regarding who will be cast as the next Bond, and with espionage experience in his arsenal with his new flick coming out – we reckon he’s shaken (not stirred) up the race to become 007.”
