King 'Arry: Redknapp now favourite to win I'm A Celebrity

Bookies have slashed odds on the 71-year-old being crowned King of the Jungle.

The loveable manager has already managed to endear I’m A Celebrity fans after regaling campmates and viewers alike in the second episode of the hit ITV show on Monday evening.

After an entertaining display, bookies have cut odds on Redknapp winning from 9/1 to as short as 7/2 overnight, settling on a best price of 4/1. He’s received 32% of bets on the market in the last 24 hours. If he doesn’t take the crown, he’s as short as 5/4 to finish as the ‘Top Man’.

In the space of two episodes, ‘Arry has managed to take centre stage. He gamely delved into a box of creepy crawlies from his beloved car window in the opening show and last night revealed that he would happily empty the dunny at all times due to the complete absence of his sense of smell.

Viewers flocked to Twitter to express their joy at Redknapp’s storytelling too. His tales last night included two royal blunders, mistaking Prince Harry for someone that might have once played under him and unknowingly chatting about horse racing with Princess Beatrice over dinner.

However, it remains to be seen whether the 71-year-old veteran manager will impress in the more taxing side of the show. Previous market leader Emily Atack (4/1) bravely took on the first Bushtucker Trial, which included an all-time record number of snakes.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “There were initially concerns as to whether Redknapp knew what he was getting himself in for after he admitted having not watched the show in the past, but the man who hates to be labelled a 'wheeler-dealer' has got punters trying to make a quick profit on him being crowned King of Jungle.”
