James Jordan new favourite for Dancing On Ice following season opener

Love Island star Wes Nelson has been usurped at the top of the market after the first episode.

Controversy is surrounding the new series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice already as professional dancer James Jordan became the new favourite to win the show following the opener last night, cut from 5/1 to 2/1 as a result of his performance.

The 40-year-old is the punter’s choice too, accruing 59% of bets on the market since the show aired.

A former professional on Strictly Come Dancing, Jordan took to the ice like a duck to water, bagging a massive score of 30.5 out of 40 from the judges. This has led to uproar among many viewers, claiming he has a blatantly unfair advantage.

Previous favourite Wes Nelson is still close behind in the market and fancied to be the audience favourite, at a best price of 5/2. Meanwhile, actor Richard Blackwood (11/2) and Finnish popstar Saara Aalto (8/1) remain well backed.

The first elimination will take place next week once all the stars have performed, with Mark Little already confirmed to be facing the skate off.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “It seems fairly obvious that a professional dancer would have an advantage on a dancing show, regardless of the surface! Well received by the judges, bookies reckon James Jordan is the likely winner of the show, but it remains to be seen if his head start will continue to sit well with the public.”
