Nearly 70% of bets on the Eurovision market today have gone on the two countries.
Two countries have caught the attention of punters in the Eurovision markets today as the Netherlands and Switzerland announced their entries for this year’s song contest.
The Netherlands have announced that Duncan Laurence will represent them with a song he wrote himself called “Arcade”.
This has seen the Dutch more than halved from 16/1 to 6/1 in places and puts them joint second favourite with some bookies. Having accrued 44% of bets on the market, they are the most backed today.
Meanwhile, Switzerland earlier revealed their representative for Tel Aviv. A popular name in the European charts, Luca Hanni will be hoping to win his country a third Eurovision Song Contest with his catchy track “She Got Me”.
A massive market mover, Switzerland have also seen their odds slashed in half since the announcement, from 33/1 to as short as 14/1. With 24% of bets on the market today, they are the second most backed entrant.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The Eurovision announcements keep rolling in and these two have really shaken up the markets today with bookies slashing prices on both in half.
“They might not tick the same quirky boxes that last year’s winner did, but a catchy pop song and a powerful ballad sung by popular artists could be just the ticket.”
