Bookies drastically cut odds on Benedict Cumberbatch becoming the next James Bond

Bookies drastically cut odds on Benedict Cumberbatch becoming the next James Bond

Could this be the person to replace Daniel Craig?

Daniel Craig’s tight trousers have made the news over the last few days, with the 51-year-old actor busy filming the next Bond film. Craig took over the role from Pierce Brosnan back in 2005, and he’s been quite open about passing the baton on sooner rather than later.

There have been various candidates in the pipeline to replace the Casino Royale star, and now there’s a new A-lister being linked with the role. Sherlock’s main man, Benedict Cumberbatch was a massive 250/1 to be the next James Bond just yesterday with one bookie, which infers just a 0.4% chance. However, the bookmakers have taken drastic action and sliced those odds this morning, with one firm pricing Cumberbatch as short as 12/1 to be the next 007, implying a 7.7% chance.

Even with this monumental shift in the market, Cumberbatch’s chances are still some way behind the favourites in the market which include Richard Madden (3/1), Tom Hiddleston (4/1), Idris Elba (6/1), James Norton (13/2), Cillian Murphy (7/1) and Tom Hardy (7/1).
