Alex Scott tops the market as the clear favourite for the glitterball

BBC presenter Alex Scott has been installed as the clear favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2019, proving incredibly popular with punters.

Armed with an MBE, the ex-professional footballer is the bookies’ favourite at 5/1, far ahead of her fellow frolickers.

She’s the punter’s pick by quite some distance too, accruing 21% of all bets over the last week.

Elsewhere, ex-Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley is the second favourite to win the series at 8/1, alongside Youtube sensation Saffron Barker who is the same price.

You have to scroll all the way down to fourth and fifth favourites for the male cohort, with Karim Zeroual (8/1) and Made in Chelsea star Jamie Lang (9/1).

The two sportsmen on the show have little chance of winning, according to the bookies, with rower James Cracknell priced at 16/1.

Former Portsmouth keeper David James is a 25/1 shot to win the whole series, indicating he has just a 3.8% chance of scooping the prize.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Looking to make the transition from the ball to the ballroom, it’s no surprise the snake-hipped Scott is the bookies’ favourite to clam Strictly glory.

“With many of the other contestants looking flat-footed, the crown already looks Scott’s to lose.”
