Mike could be set for a wandering eye, say bookies...
Scaffolder Callum Jones and democratic services officer Shaughna have been installed as the clear early favourites to win Love Island, following the show’s triumphant return last night.
The lovebirds are 6/1 clear favourites at the top of the market, with only one other couple close to them at the bookies.
That’s in the shape of veneer-laden Connor and Sophie, who are hot on the heels of the favourites at 17/2 second most likely in the market.
However, the third favourite in the market could spell trouble for a current couple, with policeman Mike and Sophie currently 14/1 to win the show.
Mike is currently coupled up with Leanne, although bookies don’t rate their chances of following in the footsteps of Greg and Amber from last season, priced up at a lofty 25/1.
On paper, trophy hunter Ollie and Lewis Capaldi’s-ex Paige aren’t each other’s ‘types’, and that’s translated through to the market, with the pair priced up at 50/1 to win the show.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The opening episode of the hit ITV show presented us with a new presenter, a new villa and a batch of newly-made couples.
“Shaughna losing her head over Callum in the first show has resonated with punters, with the UK public well on the side of the new couple.
“However, it looks like there could well be trouble in paradise for Leanne, who could be set to lose her man, with current beau, Mike priced as 5/2 second-favourite for the top boy.
“Despite his short price tag, bookies are predicting that Leanne should be the first female to leave the show, priced at 6/5 to be the first out of the door.”
