How to bet on Eurovision 2023: Finding the best odds and bookmaker offers

Eurovision comes to Liverpool this week, so the oddschecker team has put together a betting guide ahead of the 2023 Grand Final on Saturday 13th May.

How to bet on the Eurovision Grand Final 2023

The 67th edition of Eurovision is back this week in Liverpool, with the Grand Final getting underway on Saturday 13th May. 37 countries have been confirmed to take place in this year’s competition.

Ukraine won last year’s Eurovision contest, but as a result of Russia’s invasion of the country, the United Kingdom was decided as the venue for this year’s contest.

Each year, the rehearsals and semi-finals are important events to watch out for in terms of acts that move up or down significantly in the market. From a performance and audience reception point of view, the semi-finals are a leading indicator of how well the songs will perform in the final standings.

The first semi-final takes place today (Tuesday), the second semi-final is on Thursday, before Saturday’s Grand Final decides who wins Eurovision 2023.

Alongside the semi-final performances, and subsequent price swings, you might also want to pay attention to the views that each act receives on YouTube, as this might give an indication of what the Eurovision fans are watching.

And another very important factor in deciding who to bet on is the running order of the final. Those acts that perform later in the competition benefit from a recency bias with TV viewers for the 50% of the vote by the public, with those nearer the start at a perceived disadvantage.

Strategic voting is another aspect to look out for when betting on Eurovision. For example, Ukraine had much of Europe behind them last year which helped their chances of winning Eurovision 2022.

Using the oddschecker grids for Eurovision 2023

You can see and compare the odds across our 25 bookmaker partners by heading over to our winner grid, as well as other sub-markets.

Each bookie sets their own prices and have different liabilities based on the betting so far, which creates big discrepancies in the odds and allows customers to get the most value on their bet. All you need to do is look across our odds grid, compare the odds and pick your chosen bookmaker to place a bet on the country you think will win.

At the top of the winner grid, you’ll notice some each-way terms, which are another important aspect of comparing odds. Some firms offer three places and others four, which can make a big difference to whether you win your each way bet or not.

The other part of each way terms worth noting is what fraction of the odds a bookmaker is prepared to offer if the act you bet on places. For example, bet365 offer four places at 1/4 (many others are 1/5 odds). That means if your bet finishes in the top four but doesn’t win, you receive 25% of the odds they offering for win only (e.g. 16/1 becomes 4/1).

Eurovision 2023 Betting Tips

SWEDEN have a number of things going for them in 2023 - a former winner in Loreen with a very powerful voice, a great pop song and they are top of the Eurovision World Blog annual poll which has been a reliable indicator of success over the last five years.

So, even though Loreen is the clear favourite at 3/4 (worst price 8/13) we still see value in backing Sweden for glory in Liverpool.

For a bit of value, GERMANY look undervalued at 4/1 for a top 10 finish (worst price 5/2). Rock/metal songs have a good record at Eurovision (think Lordi and Maneskin) with Blood and Glitter one of Germany’s better entries at Eurovision in recent years.

They are a best price 150/1 to win outright (80/1 worst price) and while that looks a stretch they are currently in fifth position in the aforementioned Eurovision World blog poll. Expect this song to be popular with the public.
