Next James Bond Odds: Jack Lowden Odds-On After Screen Tests

Jack Lowden is the 4/7 favourite to be the next James Bond after final screen tests for Bond 26.

The search for the next 007 appears to be nearly over. Final screen tests for Amazon MGM's Bond 26 took place in London last weekend and continued into this week. Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor are reported to be among those who tested, and a fourth actor has not been named.

No one has been officially cast. Amazon says only that it will share news "as soon as the time is right". Producer Amy Pascal has called a year-end announcement "a good bet", so the betting is now about which of a small group of names gets the role, not about who could be considered.

Who Is the Favourite to Be the Next James Bond?

Jack Lowden is the favourite to be the next James Bond at 4/7, which gives him an implied chance of around 64%. The 36-year-old Scot is best known for playing River Cartwright in Slow Horses, and he has also starred in Dunkirk and Benediction. Lowden has been at the front of the market since Gary Oldman, his co-star in Slow Horses, said in September that he had heard Lowden was the chosen one. Oldman's wife later played the comments down. Reports from last week's screen tests suggest Lowden may now be just ahead of the others.

Callum Turner is second favourite at 3/1 (25%). The Masters of the Air and Fantastic Beasts star is also 36 and is one of the reported finalists. Josh O'Connor is third favourite at 7/2 (about 22%). He has starred in The Crown and Challengers, and was reported to be testing alongside Lowden and Turner.

Next James Bond Odds Movement

The big mover this morning is Joe Alwyn. He was 150/1 earlier today and is now 7/1 (about 13%), the fourth favourite. That gives him an implied chance of about 13%. His name has come up in speculation about the unnamed fourth actor. That has not been confirmed, but the market has reacted.

Lowden has shortened from 5/8 to 4/7 over the same period. O'Connor has gone the other way, eased from 7/1 to 7/2. Several names once near the top have dropped back. The Hollywood Reporter's sources say Jacob Elordi and Jack O'Connell were not testing, and Harris Dickinson and Nicholas Hoult have been ruled out as the fourth name. Theo James and James Norton have both said they are too old for the role.

When Will the Next James Bond Be Announced?

There is no official date. Amazon took creative control of the franchise in 2025, with Denis Villeneuve directing, Steven Knight writing and Pascal and David Heyman producing. Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three opens on 18 December, and the general expectation in the trade press is that Bond will be cast by the end of the year. Filming is expected in 2027.
