Next James Bond Odds: Callum Turner Backed Into 4/7 Favourite

Callum Turner has been backed into 4/7 favourite to be the next James Bond after a casting rumour spread online.

Callum Turner is now favourite to be the next James Bond. Bond 26 producers Amazon MGM haven't said anything. The market moved on Monday after a rumour that he had been cast spread quickly online. Jack Lowden had been favourite since last week's screen tests, but he has been pushed out to second favourite.

Only William Hill is still pricing the market on Oddschecker. Several other bookmakers had prices up when Monday's market closed but are no longer showing one.

Who Is the Favourite to Be the Next James Bond?

Callum Turner is favourite at 4/7, which implies a 64% chance. William Hill had him at 3/1 on 23 October, around the time of the screen tests. He was 5/4 when Monday's market closed, before being cut to 4/7 on Tuesday afternoon.

Jack Lowden has gone the other way. He was 4/6 favourite at William Hill when Monday's market closed and is now 7/2, about 22%. Josh O'Connor, the third actor reported to have screen-tested, has eased from 6/1 to 8/1, about 11%.

Why Has Callum Turner Been Backed for Bond?

The move followed a post on the showbiz site Showbiz411 on Monday afternoon. It claimed the “word on the street” was that Turner would be the next 007. The post named no source, but it was widely shared on social media within hours.

Pierce Brosnan then praised Turner in an interview reported on Tuesday. “Callum Turner is someone I've worked with, and he's so strong,” he said, adding that he admired all the actors on the shortlist.

None of it is confirmed. Turner, Lowden and O'Connor were all reported to have screen-tested at Bray Studios in Berkshire in late October. Producer Amy Pascal said in August that “the end of the year is a good bet” for an announcement.

Callum Turner: The Bond Favourite's Background

Turner is 36 and from London. His best-known roles are Major John “Bucky” Egan in Apple TV+'s Masters of the Air, Theseus Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts films, and the lead in George Clooney's The Boys in the Boat. He married Dua Lipa in May.

Lowden is best known for Slow Horses and has kept quiet about the role, saying he is “not really going to add to the noise”. O'Connor told the BBC on Tuesday that even being considered was “an incredibly bizarre pinch me moment”.

When Will the Next James Bond Be Announced?

No announcement date has been set. Denis Villeneuve is directing Bond 26 from a script by Steven Knight, with Pascal and David Heyman producing. Filming is expected in 2027, ahead of a 2028 release.
