Fight Island is in store for a cracker...
On less than a weeks’ notice, UFC’s man-of-the-moment Jorge Masvidal has stepped up to fight perhaps the scariest man on the roster, Kamaru Usman.
But who is favourite for the short-notice title fight? Where has the money been going since the fight was announced?
Oddschecker has taken a look at the key markets.
Who is the favourite?
Currently riding an 11-fight unbeaten win streak in the UFC, Kamaru Usman enters the contest as the clear favourite by all bookmakers offering odds.
Usman is differing shades of odds-on from the bookies on the Oddschecker grid, with the best price of just 2/5 available.
He is, however, as short as 1/3 with Sky Bet and 4/11 with a host of other firms.
That means ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal enters the contest as a sizable underdog, currently available at the best price of 9/4.
Where's the money going?
At the time of writing, punters are loving Masvidal as a tasty underdog.
When looking at all bets since the fight was officially announced by the UFC brass, around 68% of all bets in the market have backed the current holder of the B.M.F belt.
That leaves just 32% of bets being accumulated by the Welterweight champion Usman, with punters not so keen at his 2/5 odds.
What will the method of victory be?
Among all the available options, bookies believe that Usman winning by TKO is the most likely scenario, currently priced at 7/5.
The next most likely outcome is Usman winning by decision, currently priced at 15/8.
Masvidal winning by KO is the next most likely result of the fight at 11/4, whilst a Masvidal decision is a lengthy punt at 12/1.
