This is a fight that should have taken place in August of last year, but a jaw infection suffered by Beterbiev put paid to that. So, eight months later, the pair do battle in Quebec City with the Russian-born Canadian’s WBC, WBO and IBF titles on the line.
It is an intriguing match-up that pits the fearsome punching power of Beterbiev – a man who has stopped every one of his 19 opponents – against the affable scouser who is looking to become a two-weight world champion after scaling the heights as a super- middleweight.

Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith Predictions
Beterbiev is rightly regarded as one of boxing most venomous and spiteful fighters, as his record of 19 fights with 19 wins inside the distance can testify.
A career light-heavyweight, the soon-to-be 39-year-old has mixed in esteemed company and most recently stopped Anthony Yarde when the pair met a year ago.
If Beterbiev has been a little more inactive than he would like, then he can console himself in the knowledge that it has been an even longer lay-off for Smith who has not boxed for 17 months since blasting out Frenchman Mathieu Bauderlique.

While the punching power of Beterbiev is the stuff of folklore, Smith is no slouch in that department either and has stopped 21 of his 29 victims. The Liverpudlian’s only defeat was at the hands of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – and that was at 168lbs, a weight the 6’ 3” Smith somehow managed to make.
This is a ‘blink and you could miss it’ kind of fight. Expect Callum Smith to meet fire with fire with both men trading early. Although a sizeable underdog, I think this could be the night that Callum Smith lands that mighty left-hook and the baton passes from Canada to the UK.
