Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn
Eubank vs Benn Betting Preview by Tom Eaton.
Seven months on from their initial encounter, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn collide once again in a continuation of one of British boxing’s most fierce rivalries.
Eubank Sr halted Nigel Benn 35 years ago, before a controversial draw in their rematch. Then, back in April, it was the Eubank name that reigned supreme once again, as Chris Eubank Jr claimed a unanimous-decision victory over Conor Benn after 12 brutal rounds.
The weight was a hot topic ahead of that fight, with some suggesting that a two-division jump was too much for Benn, whilst others believed that the weight cut and rehydration clause for Eubank was borderline inhumane.
Once again, 160lbs is the limit, and the additional strain on Eubank’s body, combined with the extra time that Benn has had to adjust to the weight, means it is the latter who should be better served in the rematch.
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Betting Tip
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2 Tip - Conor Benn by KO/TKO (10/3 with Multiple Bookmakers)
At 36 years old, with a win already banked against Benn, Eubank may struggle to dig as deep for victory as he did in the first fight. Plus, the impact that a second strenuous weight cut is going to have on him cannot be overlooked.
Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, trainer of Terence Crawford, is now in Eubank’s corner and the American plans to help him close the show without the intervention of the judges.
Although, it was Benn who buzzed Eubank at times in their first fight and his power will be less forgiving on Saturday night, after seven further months of developing a middleweight frame.
Therefore, despite his superior boxing skills, I believe that Eubank will get caught as he attempts an overly aggressive approach that proves costly; resulting in a stoppage win for Benn.
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2 Undercard Betting Tips
Sam Gilley vs Ishmael Davis – Fight to go the Distance (5/6)
In a bout involving two tough operators, Sam Gilley takes on Ishmael Davis with the vacant British super-welterweight title up for grabs.
Davis has been mixing it with world level opposition of late, but he has yet to prove that he belongs at that level himself. With no stoppage victories since 2023 for Davis, and a big step up for Gilley, it’s tough to envisage this one ending inside of the distance.
Gilley vs Davis to go the Distance - 5/6 - 1pt stake advised
Jack Catterall vs Ekow Essuman – Catterall to Win on Points or Decision (8/11)
Josh Taylor’s two most recent opponents go head-to-head, as Jack Catterall seeks to capitalize on the well-ranked Ekow Essuman.
Although Essuman impressed in his victory over ‘The Tartan Tornado’, Catterall’s experience at the elite level makes him the favourite and, considering that he hasn’t won by knockout since 2019 and has moved up to welterweight, it’s highly likely that a Catterall win would come via the cards.
Catterall to win via Points/Decision - 8/11 - 2pt stake advised.
Adam Azim vs Kurt Scoby – Azim to Win the Fight in Rounds 6-10 (7/4)
California’s Kurt Scoby has stepped in as a late-notice replacement to face the highly rated Adam Azim, but it is expected that Azim will make relatively easy work of the 30-year-old.
Still, Azim’s recent stoppage wins have come through an accumulation of damage rather than because of one-punch power, with three of his last four stoppages coming between rounds 8 and 10.
Expect the Slough-born contender to take his time to have a look at Scoby early on and then dispatch of the visitor during the second half.
Azim to Win the Fight in Rounds 6-10 - 7/4 available with Sky Bet. 1pt stake advised.
Undercard Treble
Gilley vs Davis to go the Distance
Catterall to win via Points/Dec
Azim win in rounds 6/10
0.5pt stake advised on the treble.
