Dubois vs Wardley 2See All Odds

Daniel Dubois is a 7/20 favourite at best to beat Fabio Wardley again when they meet for the WBO heavyweight title at The O2 on Saturday night. Five months ago in Manchester, Wardley put Dubois down inside the first 10 seconds and again in round 3, but Dubois came back to stop him in the 11th. Wardley is 3/1 to win the rematch, and both camps expect another short night. Promoter Frank Warren put it bluntly: "It ain't gonna go the distance. Not these two."

How the First Dubois vs Wardley Fight Played Out

Wardley started like a train at Co-op Live on 9 May, dropping Dubois in the opening seconds and again in the third. Dubois's overhand right turned the fight from there, and he outlanded Wardley 179 to 97 over the distance they went. By the 10th, Wardley's nose was badly damaged and his right eye was almost shut. Referee Howard Foster stopped it 28 seconds into round 11. It was Wardley's first professional defeat and cost him the WBO belt, which Dubois now defends for the first time.

Dubois has since claimed he wasn't at his best that night. He weighed a career-high 251.7lb and rated his own performance "maybe a four", adding: "I was pretty overweight. I didn't even train that hard for that fight." Wardley isn't buying it: "Clearly it is a lie, but Daniel does come out with some funny lines."

Dubois vs Wardley Prediction and Betting Tips

Wardley proved he can hurt Dubois, and his plan is simple: "Down in the first, down in the third, if I capitalise on those moments a bit better second time around, he's done and dusted in the first quarter." He has also admitted he "got trigger happy" first time round. The problem is that Dubois took his best shots, kept walking forward and broke him down. Wardley has to prove he can absorb that sort of punishment again.

Pundits mostly agree. Derek Chisora expects Dubois to win by knockout after three rounds, and Carl Froch thinks Wardley "will probably get stopped again". WBC champion Agit Kabayel leans to Dubois but says Wardley "can beat him" if he uses his jab.
