Three more tips for day nine at the PDC World Championship.
Benito van de Pas v Jim Long
Right off the bat, I love the price of ‘Big Ben’ to win the Match Treble (most 180s, highest checkout and win). Long stunned many people (including myself) in his opening match but van de Pas has all the ability to make the step to the next level very soon.
His scoring is a huge asset and if he’s on song with his doubling abilities, he should coast home. Make sure you tune in early for this one!
Ian White v Devon Petersen
Petersen gave us all a heart attack by going to the last leg against Wayne Jones but thank the lord, he somehow squeaked home. Doubling aside, he put in a decent performance and I’m really surprised at the huge price he is to win against the Stokie.
White’s record on the Ally Pally stage is really poor, although the level of opponent he’s gone out to is higher than Devon. Despite that, I’m having a small fancy on the South African to cause a shock. It’s the biggest odds I’ve gone for in any daily bet so far, but he shouldn’t be 11/2 and it’s too good to ignore.
Jelle Klaasen v Keegan Brown
There’s never a frown with Keegan Brown (Thanks Dan Dawson), although he wan’t too happy with his first round performance, despite winning 3-0. Klaasen is a weird character, he can either be absolutely brilliant or dreadful, and it’s never anything else.
It’s amazing that Klaasen is only 34, he’s been around forever it feels like. He went out in his first match last year and I think he will again this time. Brown was quite composed last week and he was focused enough on the big stage. I think ‘The Needle’ will reach the third round for the second successive year.
