Jonny Clayton v Michael Smith

Michael Smith is probably still wondering how he didn’t beat Gerwyn Price last week. He was 6-2 up and throwing some amazing darts before letting Price snatch a point. He threw five maximums in that match and his scoring power in the early stages was seriously impressive. Clayton is in good from at the moment and played very well at the Masters earlier this month, beating MVG quite comfortably in the end. I wouldn’t want to pick the winner here but given there is not much difference in price compared to Smith to win and Smith to hit the most 180s, it seems sensible to side with the 180 market as he really does fire them in when he gets going.

Gary Anderson v Glen Durrant

Glen Durrant (best price 2-1) is too bigger price here. Both players have been playing at a similar level recently, so whilst Anderson probably just about deserves to be favourite, this match will be far closer than the odds suggest. Duzza wasn’t at his best last week but the crowd had a massive part to play and he won’t encounter that tonight. It speaks volumes he still managed to snatch a draw, he is a very hard player to beat. Gary couldn’t see off a below average Wright last week and only just got past a badly out of form Daryl Gurney on the opening night. Both players’ averages are around the same mark in the last few weeks and with Duzza’s doggedness at the oche, he has to be the play at 2/1.
