One selection stands out on the opening night at the Alexandra Palace.
Steve Beaton v Diogo Portela
The first night of the 2021 PDC World Championship gets underway tonight and we are treated to Steve Beaton on the opening evening. He will be making an incredible 30th appearance at the World Championship tonight. The exciting 18-year-old Keane Barry takes on Canadian Jeff Smith, and the bookies are struggling to split them.
Only one bet makes any appeal tonight with only three games available to bet on. It comes in the second match of the evening.
Steve Beaton takes on Diogo Portela and the Bronzed Adonis should breeze into the second round if he plays to the level we know he’s capable of. Beaton memorably beat James Wade here last year and the fan favourite has a relatively easy first round draw to navigate against Diogo Portela. He’s too shorter price in the win market to back, but the 5/6 on offer for Beaton to hit the most 180s is a solid bet. He hit the most 180s in all three of his games last year, and he’s been averaging some decent scores in recent months. Once he gets into a rhythm, he can find the triple 20 bed with regularity. He should outscore the Brazilian here, who couldn’t hit any 180s during his last appearance at the Alexandra Palace.
