Luke Humphries and Luke Littler will contest one of the most eagerly-anticipated World Darts Championship finals of all time at the Alexandra Palace on Wednesday night. 

Having scooped three major titles in 2023, pre-tournament favourite Humphries is now just one win away from darting immortality after his stunning 6-0 semi-final success against Scott Williams. 

Standing in Humphries’ way is 16-year-old sensation Luke Littler who has taken the sporting world by storm with his surge to the Ally Pally showpiece. Littler’s fairytale run to the final was secured with a 6-2 win over former world champion Rob Cross on Tuesday night.

World Darts Championship Final Predictions 

Having enjoyed a trophy-laden second half of 2023, Humphries warrants odds-on favouritism to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy after Wednesday’s final. 

While 'Cool Hand' survived a couple of near-exits earlier in the competition, he has since hit top gear with a pair of dominant 5-1 and 6-0 wins over both Dave Chisnall and Scott Williams respectively. 

The most recent of those two demolition jobs saw Humphries average an eye-watering 108.74, not to mention the 28-year-old became the new world number one following his semi-final whitewash of the aforementioned Williams.

That being said, Humphries is unlikely to have things all his own way against teenage trailblazer Littler, who has lit up the Alexandra Palace stage with dazzling darting displays that defy logic. 

'The Nuke' has already blown away two former world champions in the shape of Raymond van Barneveld and Rob Cross and the 16-year-old certainly won't be fazed with the task in hand when he faces the newly-attained highest ranked player in the PDC rankings. 

Littler has consistently averaged over 100 throughout the tournament, racking up a remarkable 106 average in his 6-2 semi-final victory over ‘Voltage’ Rob Cross last time out. 

However, that type of performance may have to be replicated or even topped if Littler is to triumph given the levels Humphries’ game has reached at the business end of the tournament. 

The pair should trade blows in a terrific tungsten tussle that will hopefully be a 180 fest featuring multiple legs. If pushed, I would edge towards Humphries keeping his cool in what could be a classic back and forth climax at the Ally Pally.
