Grand Slam of Darts

In what will be the 18th edition of this event, a star-studded 32-player field will fight it out for one of darts’ most illustrious titles in the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts.

Last year, Luke Humphries won his second major title in as many months by defeating Rob Cross 16-8 in the final. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ will now look to become the fourth different player to retain the Grand Slam trophy.

Grand Slam of Darts Predictions

Unsurprisingly, Luke Humphries is the 3/1 favourite to win the Grand Slam of Darts for the second year in succession.

Over the past 12 months, Humphries has dominated the darting world. ‘Cool Hand' kicked off the year by clinching his maiden world championship at the Ally Pally and he has since added the World Matchplay title to his ever-growing trophy haul.

The world number one also helped inspire England to World Cup glory in the summer, not to mention he finished as runner-up in his debut Premier League campaign.

While Humphries fell at the final hurdle in last month’s World Grand Prix against an inspired Mike De Decker, it would take a brave man to bet against him in Wolverhampton.

As for Luke Littler, he heads into his first-ever Grand Slam of Darts as the 4/1 second favourite. While ‘The Nuke’ has emerged as one of the most dominant forces in darts over the last 12 months, he has been sent packing in round one at both the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix.

Housed in a group that is fraught with danger, progression to the round of 16 is far from guaranteed for the teenage sensation, who will have to bring his A game if he is to avoid another shock early exit.

Elsewhere, three-time Grand Slam champion Michael van Gerwen is 15/2 on William Hill to get his hands on the trophy for the first time since 2017. Meanwhile, Gary Anderson completes the top-four in the outright betting at a best price of 10/1 outside the exhanges.

Despite producing a string of stunning performances en-route to lifting the World Grand Prix trophy in Leicester last month, the aforementioned Mike De Decker is as big as 33/1 with Ladbrokes to land top honours at this year’s Grand Slam.

‘The Real Deal’  will relish the underdog tag again and the positive momentum he has coming into this event could see him make another splash at a bold price.

Grand Slam of Darts Odds

Luke Humphries leads the outright betting at 3/1 on Sky Bet and his exploits over the last 12 months make him difficult to dismiss for back-to-back Grand Slam honours.

‘Cool Hand’ is bound to be there or thereabouts in this year’s Grand Slam reckoning and on current form, you'd have to have him down as the most likely winner.

Grand Slam of Darts Draw

The players will complete in a round-robin format for the group stage across the first two days of the tournament (9-10 November).

The top two players in each group go through to the knockout stage and contest the last 16 split on Wednesday and Thursday before the quarter-finals across Friday and Saturday.

The Grand Slam of Darts 2024 concludes with a double session on Sunday 17th November as the afternoon's semi-finals are followed by the final in the evening session.

Here is the draw for the group stage.

  • Group A: (1) Luke Humphries, James Wade, Mickey Mansell, Rowby-John Rodriguez
  • Group B: (8) Danny Noppert, Martin Schindler, Cameron Menzies, Beau Greaves
  • Group C: (4) Rob Cross, Peter Wright, Martin Lukeman, Leonard Gates

Grand Slam of Darts Betting Tips

Luke Humphries Grand Slam of Darts Winner - 3/1 Sky Bet

While it may not be the most adventurous of selections, it's hard to look beyond Luke Humphries landing the title.

A favourable group stage draw should see him ease into the tournament, and he would then be expected to get the better of a Group B qualifier to reach the quarter-final stage.

From that point onwards it would be a best-of-31 legs shootout, and a longer format only adds to the appeal of siding with ‘Cool Hand’ in his latest quest for silverware.

Group C Winner

Rob Cross Group C Winner - 6/5 @ Ladbrokes

Rob Cross looks well placed to take top honours in Group C at 6/5 on Ladbrokes. ‘Voltage’ has been placed alongside Peter Wright, Martin Lukeman and Leonard Gates. Cross, who reached last year's Grand Slam final, is one of the most consistent darts players on the planet.

The same can’t be said for each of his respective three Group F foes, making ‘Voltage the value option to take top spot at 6/5. This same selection is as short as 4/5 with another bookmaker.
