World Darts Championship

What a World Darts Championship it has been, not what I expected from the beginning with 14 seeds going out in their first round matches.

A few players were written off from the start. Peter Wright was one; he played well taking out Luke Humphries the world number one and last year's winner but unfortunately didn’t keep it going and failed in his next game.

Joe Cullen was another who played exceptionally well but lost in the deciding leg to an in-form Gezzy Price.

Luke the Nuke, meanwhile, was pushed all the way by a classy Ryan Joyce who I expect will go on and have a great 2025.

We’ve had two nine darters so far and I'm sure there will a third in the final.

So, who will lift the Sid Waddell World Darts Trophy and pocket the £500,000 winners cheque? One of Sid's best quotes was 'that's the greatest comeback since Lazarus' which I’m sure he’d have said a few times this tournament bless him.

This tournament set a new record last year for the most 180s achieved (914), raising £914,000 for the charity, which was ultimately rounded to £1,000,000 by Paddy Power. It'll be close this year with 882 already.

Who will win the World Darts Championship Final?

MVG has 157 PDC wins to his name; can the World championship be his 158th and his 4th world title? He has been looking good throughout the whole tournament and is the man with all the experience.

Luke (The Nuke) Littler burst on the big screen just over 12 months ago and has never looked back now 3rd in the World Rankings right behind his opponent MVG whom I’m sure he’d love to beat and move into number two spot. He’s leading the 180’s (64) and looks sure to win the Ballon D’art Trophy.

This is going to be one of the best finals ever with Old versus New. I’m siding with the youngster so here's my betting tips:
