Will this 6/1 three-fold prove to be lucky?
Bournemouth v Chelsea - 19:45
With three wins from three trips to The Vitality Stadium, I’m backing Chelsea to claim the points against Bournemouth on Wednesday.
While The Blues have been pretty inconsistent of late, barring West Ham, they have beaten every side outside the top seven away from home this season.
The Cherries have certainly had their own issues, too. Eddie Howe’s side have lost every single match against top six opposition this season, and have fallen to defeat in nine out of their last 13 in the Premier League.
I can see this one being tight, but I’m backing an away win.
Southampton v Crystal Palace - 19:45
Next, I’m backing Southampton to beat Crystal Palace at St. Mary’s.
Palace are a very strange side: they beat Manchester City, then draw at home to Cardiff; they beat Wolves, then lose to Watford – then score three against Liverpool at Anfield! There’s a total lack of consistency with this team. However, whatever way you look at it, they’ve lost three of their last four Premier League matches, and I have an inkling the much-improved Saints will come out on top.
Ralph Hasenhüttl has guided his side to four league wins in seven; most recently a 2-1 home win against Everton. Furthermore, Southampton have won four of their last six meetings with Palace (and three out of the last four at home), which stands them in good stead here.
In what is a crucial relegation six-pointer, I’m backing The Saints at 6/4.
Celtic v St Johnstone - 19:45
My third and final tip for this acca is Celtic to beat St. Johnstone with a -1 handicap.
Brendan Rodgers’ side, back at the top of the Scottish Premiership, are absolutely imperious at Celtic Park – winning every single match (only three of which by a single goal).
However, the reason why this is 4/6 and not much shorter is due to the form of St. Johnstone. The Saints, prior to losing at Hearts on Saturday, won their previous SIX away matches to nil – which is absolutely unbelievable.
Will Celtic’s dominance at home prevail? Or will St. Johnstone spring a shock?
Following that Hearts defeat, I envisage the former.
