It was only a fortnight ago that these two sides met at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final. That was quite a nervy and tense affair, what you’d expect in a game of such magnitude but this league game promises to be more open than that.
Leicester showed great character to come from behind to deservedly beat Crystal Palace last time out as they edge closer and closer to a top four finish. Brendan Rodgers has done superbly well yet again this season and his side has shown different ways to win and it’s testament to both his week-to-week and in game management skills.
Southampton will have had a nine day rest coming into this one having not being involved at the weekend. They’ve seen a real drop off in results this year after a bright start to the campaign, injuries haven’t helped matters and the high energy style of Ralph Hassenhuttl may have taken it’s toll. Nevertheless, a run to the FA Cup and survival may be seen by some fans as a positive campaign. Defensively they’ve been pretty poor of late, conceding two or more goals in each of their last five league games.
Given Leicester have been superb on the road this season there’s certainly interest in them to win at odds-against, however, backing over 2.5 goals may be a more sensible approach given the recent results of both sides.
