With the commencement of Euro 2020 fast approaching, oddschecker take a closer look at Group B. Who will qualify for the last-16 out of Belgium, Denmark, Russia and Finland?
Euro 2021 Group B Prediction: Belgium to win the group, Denmark to finish 2nd
It could be argued that Belgium are now past their peak, especially in defence. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have a combined age of 64 coming into this tournament, but what they do bring to the table is experience and they have bags of it.
Add an in-form, world-class striker in the shape of Romelu Lukaku and you have a front runner to win Group B. Axel Witsel is returning from injury, and he will be a key component in allowing the young talisman Youri Tielemans to roam free and feed Lukaku in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. It is hard to look past Belgium as the winners of Group B at 4/5.
Denmark will likely do enough to qualify for the next round providing Christian Eriksen steps up to the mark. His playmaking abilities are undeniable and after having a fantastic season at Inter Milan who won the Serie A title.
He will be expected to drive this Denmark team forward. Their only downfall may be that the chances created by Eriksen may not be put away. Yussuf Poulsen, their recognised striker, hasn’t had the best of seasons, scoring just 5 Bundesliga goals all season for RB Leipzig. Denmark are 1/4 to qualify for the next round, so the Belgium/Denmark forecast can be backed at 23/10.
Euro 2020 Group B preview: what the experts say
WhoScored’s Martin Laurence believes that Belgium have passed their peak, so much so that if you look at their defence, Jan Vertonghen is still in there, as is Toby Alderweireld, both now well over 30 years old.
However, providing that Kevin De Bruyne returns quickly and Lukaku is on form, Martin believes Belgium should win the group quite comfortably.
The Premier League Panel’s Raj Cohan reckons Belgium’s the front seven is absolutely brilliant - even at wing-back they’ve got some threats.
“Yannick Carrasco is a very underrated player for them, he’s had an excellent season at Atletico Madrid, and another player I’ve been a big fan of is Youri Tielemanns. He’s growing in influence in a Belgium shirt.”
Mark O’Haire of WeLoveBetting had this say on Denmarks chances: “They were 100/1 now into 33/1 win the competition. Starting with the group they have home advantage for all three group games in Copenhagen.
“Since the last World Cup they have one of the best defences out of the teams competing; 12 clean sheet in 21 competitive games. They’ve lost twice in 90 minutes in competitive matches since October 2016. They are priced at 1/4 to qualify for the next round.”

Euro 2020 Group B odds:
We can now look at the Euro 2021 Group B odds, and the clear favourite as we’ve mentioned is Belgium to finish as the group winner at 4/5. If you feel Denmark can spring a surprise, then they are 11/4 to win the group.
An interesting market that catches the eye is who will finish last, likely to be contested by Finland and Russia. Finland are at 4/7 to finish last, so therefore the bookies believe Russia look likely to be the best of the rest outside Belgium and Denmark, and are 6/4 to finish third.
| Team | Odds to qualify |
|---|---|
