Austria vs Scotland Stats
- Austria have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 games.
- Scotland have won just 1 of their last 8 away games.
Betting Tip: Austria to Win
It was a disappointing performance from both these teams last time out. Scotland were pretty shocking in scraping past minnows Moldova whilst Austria were battered 5-2 against Israel which came as a shock to many.
Austria to have a habit of winning after a defeat though, they’re a very inconsistent side but will be glad to be back at their Vienna base. It’s a huge game for them as they’re currently 3 points behind Israel who are 2nd and 1 point behind Scotland who are currently a point better off.
It looks like a 3 way battle between that trio given Denmark are flying with 5 wins out of 5. It’s just as important for the Scots who may be tempted to try play for a draw and keep that buffer between them and Austria. However, the Tartan Army have shown nothing to get excited about, especially away from Hampden Park.
Austria are odds-on and that looks fair given their home advantage, they have the better attacking options you’d argue too and given the lack of goals for Scotland it shouldn’t pose huge problems for their hit and miss backline. Taking Austria to win at 5/6 looks fair enough.
Florian Grillitsch to be carded
I’ll also dip into the cards market given this is a high pressure game with a good referee. Hoffenheim schemer Florian Grillitsch just looks way overpriced at 7/1 for a card should he start.
He’s picked up 3 cards in his 4 World Cup Qualifiers and has a habit of getting stuck in. With the likes of the heavily fouled John McGinn progressing through midfield wit would not be a surprise to see Grillitsch go into the book.
