Betting Tip: Newcastle draw no bet

The Eddie Howe reign at Newcastle begins at St James’ Park in a winnable game against Brentford. Spirits are obviously high on Tyneside at the minute with the recent takeover and pantomime villain Mike Ashley leaving but the Toon Army really need to see that energy taken to the pitch, they’re one of the few clubs in Europe yet to register a league victory but this matchup against an out of form Brentford could be just what the doctor ordered.

The Bees have lost each of their last four league games and the two most recent were against relegation-threatened Burnley and Norwich. Gaffer Thomas Frank has a mounting injury list too with goalkeeper David Raya, centre-halves Kristoffer Ajer and Zanka as well as Matias Jensen, Josh Da Silva and Yoanne Wissa ruled out.

Howe himself comes into a side free of injuries and plenty available for selection. He may go with his tried and tested players from his Bournemouth days in Matt Ritchie, Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson in the side. A 4-2-3-1 formation with Fraser, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joe Willock supporting Wilson may be a favourable approach from the new man.

I fancy the hosts to get something here, they have a few agreeable fixtures on the horizon but then comes a tricky festive period so a good start is crucial. The bookies can’t really split these two which means to draw no bet market comes into play and it’s the Magpies at 10/11 without the stalemate which appeals here.

There’s a case to be made for both teams to score too with the records of both sides lately but that could be a touch short at 3/4.
