Liverpool to win vs Wolves

Having Liverpool in your Saturday accumulator is like that last slice of cake at Christmas, you know you probably shouldn’t, but the almost guaranteed satisfaction is too good to turn down. Liverpool are in a rich vein of form and therefore we felt it only right to include them here. Wolves haven’t won against the Reds since 2019. We expect more of the same here, Liverpool are fresh off their emphatic 4-1 win at Goodison on Wednesday night.

Southampton to win vs Brighton

Next up, we have a riskier selection given that the Saints sit just five points above the drop zone and are winless in three games. Their away form has been nothing short of abysmal. However, their home form is solid and they’ve picked up eight points in their last four at St Mary’s. Brighton could be considered the draw masters on the road, they have four draws and one loss in their last five away Premier League fixtures. Southampton were unlucky not to pick up three points midweek against Leicester and they will be looking to go one better here on Saturday.

Blackburn to win vs Preston

As we move further down through the English leagues, we have our first selection from the Championship. Blackburn to win at home to Preston North End. Blackburn are a side with the momentum swinging strongly in their favour. They’ve picked up 10 points out of the last 12 available. Blackburn are currently in contention for a playoff spot in fifth, meanwhile, Preston sit precariously in 17th. Ewood Park has seen an average of 3.90 goals per game, so expect another goal-fest here with Blackburn coming out on top.

Sheffield United to win vs Cardiff

Sheffield United travel to the Cardiff City Stadium having taken maximum points from their last two games and will be hoping for more of the same here. Cardiff are under the tutelage of their current caretaker manager Steve Morison and they recorded two consecutive away victories thus far. However, their home form is the worst in the entire league, amassing just seven points from a maximum of 30 on offer. We are backing Sheffield United for the victory here.

Portsmouth to win vs Harrogate

The second round of the FA Cup is upon us and it pits League One Portsmouth against League Two Harrogate Town. It is a fixture that should be somewhat competitive although in-form Pompey are expected to have enough at home to squeeze into the third round. Harrogate dispatched Wrexham by a score of 2-1 in the first round. Pompey struggled past Harrow 1-0 and will be hoping for a more convincing performance this time around.
