Brentford v Man Utd – Both teams to score

First up we have Brentford hosting Man Utd at the Brentford Community Stadium. An enthralling encounter awaits in this one, with Brentford averaging 3 goals per game in their last 10 matches. 

Although United have started life to Ralf Rangnick’s rein with two victories from two games, they looked far from convincing at Carrow Road. David De Gea made some excellent saves to ensure a 100% start to the German’s spell at the club, but the intensity and high press that they had adopted against Crystal Palace was nowhere to be seen against Dean Smith’s Norwich. They looked like their typical lacklustre selves. This is a side that has conceded the second-most goals of any team in the top half. We expect Man Utd’s short run of clean sheets to come to an end here and fancy both teams to score.

Man City vs Leeds – Over 2.5 goals

Pep Guardiola’s men fumbled past Wolves on Saturday with a 66th minute Raheem Sterling penalty finally making the difference. As expected with a Guardiola side, they dominated possession and had numerous opportunities to score (10 shots on target) but failed to put the ball in the back of the net from open play. Credit must be given to Wolves for their defensive heroics. We see this as a one-off and expect normal service to resume here with over 2.5 goals. Prior to the Wolves game, City have seen over 2.5 goals land in their last six matches in all competitions.

Norwich vs Aston Villa – Aston Villa to win

Dean Smith was managing the Villa players just five weeks ago and now he will line up his Norwich side against his former employers. It’s almost a given that Smith will want to prove a point here after Villa sacked him in November. Norwich face a tough task with the honeymoon period seemingly over. They’ve failed to win in their last four games (D2, L2). An alarming stat for the Canaries is that they have lost six of their last seven against Villa. 

Gerrard’s men will be confident coming into this, with two wins and two defeats since Gerrard joined the club. Their 2-1 defeat against Man City was an admirable performance and they were unlucky not to get something from the game, while only a penalty split the sides in their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.
