Betting Tip: Over 4.5 Yellow Cards

The final run-in of the Premier League resumes after the final international break of the campaign and this weekend sees a Midlands Derby as European chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome mid-table Aston Villa to Molineux on Saturday afternoon. 

It could be argued that the break came at the right time for the hosts given they’ve secured just two wins across their last six fixtures, losing the other four. Sitting just four points from a place in the top six, Bruno Lage’s men will be keen to return to form, starting with a win in front of their home fans. 

However, it’s difficult to give too much attention to their two most recent wins given they came in the form of a home fixture against a relegation-threatened Watford, followed by a closely contested 1-0 away victory against an Everton side that are currently in complete disarray.

This should be a fiery encounter as both sides will be gunning for the win. Darren England will be at the whistle for this one and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him dish out a few cards here. 

He’s handing out an average of 3.67 yellow cards per game in the Premier League this season. This fixture saw four yellow cards last season and 11 yellow cards the season before (+ two reds).

Betting Tip: Aston Villa Draw No Bet

Aston Villa have been entertaining on the road this season. They’re yet to draw a single away game and they’ve found the back of the net in seven of their last nine EPL away matches, only failing to score against a resurgent Newcastle and title-chasing Liverpool.

Top scorer Ollie Watkins was on target during the week for England and his movement should cause plenty of problems for the back three of Wolves.

The hosts have scored fewer goals than any other top half side and are now without two of their top three goalscorers in Raúl Jiménez (suspension) and Rúben Neves (injured). Pedro Neto and Nélson Semedo are also doubts heading into this one and so with their attacking threat somewhat diminished, I’ll lean towards Aston Villa in the draw no bet market.
