Leeds United vs Southampton Tips

Another international break is over and fans will be delighted it’s back to domestic football as we move into the business end of the season.

The international break really did come at the wrong time for Leeds, a side who had just recorded back to back wins in incredible fashion.

A 90th-minute winner at home to Championship bound Norwich was followed up by a sensational win at Wolves which saw them come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and move them seven points clear of third bottom Watford -  it’s those battling qualities that will please new boss Jesse Marsch.

Those points were most welcome following a disastrous run of just one point from the previous 24 available (LDLLLLLL).

Southampton’s objectives will be to halt their four game losing run and push for a top-half finish, although, they face a tough test against a Leeds side who’ll be buoyant after their recent revival.

Nobody has conceded more goals than Leeds this season, an eye-watering 67 (2.2 goal per game). They’ve conceded in every one of their last 17 matches, conceding 2+ goals in 14 of those matches and 3+ goals in 9 of them.

Betting Tip: BTTS and over 2.5 goals

Seven of their last eight matches at Elland Road have delivered over 2.5 goals and when you factor in Southampton have seen over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine on the road, we should see goals here.

10 of Southampton's last 12 matches have seen both side's scores and given that neither of these two sides are strong defensively (just two clean sheets in 16 for the visitors) there’s a strong chance we see both sides find the net.

Interestingly, there’s been a goal scored in the last 15 mins in each of the last nine matches at Elland Road, including five 90th+ minute goals. Late goals are a common theme for this Leeds side with 30% of their goals coming in the last 15 mins of matches.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals - 1pt @ 1/1
