I was really impressed with the way AVA GO JOE won at Beverley on return. I thought he always looked like he was going well and it was only a matter of time before he picked them up in the closing stages. Given he won second-up last season I think he can brush aside a 4lb rise here and follow up. This track should prove ideal and I get the impression there is more to come from him yet. Ey Up It’s Maggie is favourite at the time of writing and she did shape well when third in a strong looking race at Pontefract. She should go well but if the selection shows that turf of foot again I’m not sure she’ll live with it late. Nomadic Empire is the solid one but he was held off this mark on final start at York. He might find things happening a bit quickly on return but still a lively player. Militia is respected but is another year older and has to be vulnerable to younger legs.
