France to win & BTTS vs Austria

France will go into the third round of fixtures in the 2022/23 Nations League in a similar position to England, having taken just a single point from their first two matches.

Les Bleus were denied three points in Split on Monday by a late Andrej Kramaric penalty, which allowed Denmark to open up a three-point lead in the group after a late goal of their own against France's next opponents Austria.

Austria might have been beaten by the Danes but they still scored on the day, adding to the 10 goals they had racked up in their previous three home games against Scotland, Moldova and Israel.

So, you would expect them to breach French defences, but Didier Deschamps' side - putting the performances of the last week to one side - should provide a different level of opposition.

Denmark to win vs Croatia

The second selection is another from the straight win shelf, but the value seems good enough to avoid any temptation to over complicate.

The Euro 2020 semi-finalists top the group with two wins from two and they are at home, having come into the tournament after qualifying for the World Cup with nine wins from 10 matches – only dropping points in a dead rubber against Scotland in the final match at Hampden Park.

Croatia, by contrast, have failed to convince in their two Nations League outings so far after making slightly harder work of their own qualification for Qatar, which saw them drop points against each of Slovenia, Russia and Slovakia.

Slovakia to win vs Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan have yet to score in their first two Nations League fixtures, which continues a familiar tale of goalscoring woe for the team ranked 129th in the FIFA world rankings.

They also failed to score in their two matches directly before the Nations League campaign and have mustered a total of just two in their last eight.

Slovakia, meanwhile, suffered a surprise defeat at home to Kazakhstan last time out but should have too much for Friday's hosts. They took points off Croatia in World Cup qualifying, finishing third in a competitive group ahead of Slovenia.
