Switzerland to win vs Portugal 

The Swiss are hoping to progress further than they did at the last Euro’s and get out of the group. However, they come into the tournament in poor form after losing their two warm up games with an aggregate of 11-0. Nils Nielsen will hope his team can regain its World Cup qualifying form where they won six of their eight games, but they face a difficult task with Euro 2017 winners Netherlands and 2019 World Cup semi-finalists Sweden yet to play. 

Portugal come in on slightly better form, having won two of their three warm up matches and five of their World Cup qualifiers. They finished bottom of their group last time round, didn’t qualify for the 2019 World Cup and only managed to qualify for this year’s tournament following the disqualification of Russia due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. 

New York City to win vs New England Revolution

Sitting 4th in the Eastern Conference with two games in hand on their City rivals New York Red Bulls, New York City will be looking to win this game and push on to claim back-to-back titles. They come into this game in poor form, having not won in five games. 

New England, on the other hand, have not lost in 11 matches and are flying high with an excellent defensive record.  They will be looking for revenge after they lost out to the Pigeons in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference last season after setting a league record for points in a regular season. This game will be played in a packed-out Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening and could have a huge impact on the league table. 

Netherlands to win vs Sweden 

Defending Champions, Netherlands kick off their 2022 campaign on Saturday when the face Sweden at Bramall Lane. They continued their good run of form into the 2019 World Cup where they made the final, ultimately losing out to the USA.

They are looking to retain their title that they won on home soil five years ago but face a tough task with formidable opponents like England, Spain and France ahead of them in the odds. They come into the tournament in fair form having won five of their World Cup qualifiers but lost 5-1 to England in a recent warm up match. 

Sweden enter the tournament as the highest-ranking European team, second to only the USA in the world and have realistic ambitions to win their first title since 1984. They have been in great form leading up to this summer, having won the Algarve Cup and topping their World Cup qualifying group without a defeat. After losing to Canada in the final of the 2020 Olympics games they will be hoping to do one better this time and win the tournament outright.
