Kaiserslautern vs Hannover 96 - Hannover 96 win

The 2. Bundesliga 22/23 season kicks off on Friday evening as Kaiserslauteren host Hannover 96 at the Fritz-Walter Stadium.

Kaiserslautern are newly promoted after finishing 3rd in the 3. Liga last season and beating Dynamo Dresden in the 2. Bundesliga relegation play-off. They are a new look team this year after signing six new players this summer, including experienced players from Bundesliga sides. They haven’t been in the 2. Bundesliga since 2018 when they finished bottom with 35 points and will be hoping they can do more than survive this year.

Hannover 96 are starting their fourth consecutive season in the 2. Bundesliga after relegation from the Bundesliga in 2019. They had a very underwhelming season last year, finishing mid table and will be looking to progress on that and try to get back into the German top flight. They have been very active in the transfer window and will look like a different outfit with over 10 new incomings into the squad.

Northern Ireland vs England - Ellen White to Score

Tournament debutants, Northern Ireland have so far had the tournament most would have expected. They have struggled against better sides and have conceded six in their first two games but will take encouragement away from the fact that they managed to score against a tough Norwegian team.

England on the other hand come into this game in hot form after netting eight past Norway on Monday evening. Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses ran riot as they coasted past the Nordic nation, with Beth Mead scoring a hat-trick and Ellen White getting closer to the all-time England goal scorer record after bagging a brace. They extend their Euros campaign to two wins out of two without conceding a goal and will come in to this game brimming with confidence.

Austria vs Norway - Norway to win 

Austria picked up their first win of the tournament with a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland on Monday evening and will be hoping to solidify knockout football with a win over Norway at the American Express Community Stadium. They played well against England the game before last and kept the home favourites to a one-goal deficit, positioning themselves nicely in the group to play against Norway for progression.

Norway, on the other hand, come into this fixture off the back of a humiliating 8-0 defeat to England, managing only one shot on target. Before this, they beat Northern Ireland convincingly and would have had great ambitions of bettering their last Euros result.

Despite this embarrassing result, they are not out of tournament yet and still have all to play for as the winner of this fixture can reach the knockout stages. Although they are level on points, Norway need a victory to finish in the top two of Group A, while Austria require just one point.
