Elfsborg vs Molde – Molde win

The Swedish Allsvenskan meets the Norwegian Eliteserien in Thursday’s treble, with Elsfborg hosting Molde. Both teams are halfway through their league season but sit in completely opposing positions. The first leg of this tie ended in a 4-1 Molde victory.

Elfsborg’s season has been disappointing so far and they currently sit 10th in the league, having won only one of their last five. They come into this game on poor form after losing three on the bounce and will have the first leg result in mind. They face an uphill battle to progress to the third round of qualifying and with such a deficit it looks unlikely.

Molde’s season has been quite the opposite. They sit top of the table and are hoping to win their first league title since 2019. They come into this game in hot form after winning five on the bounce and will be expecting run riot against their Swedish counterparts like the last time they met. With one team in poor form and one running hot, Molde are the clear favourites for this one.

Lechia Gdansk vs Rapid Vienna – Rapid Vienna win

The first leg between these two finished in a stalemate, with both teams failing to score. Both kicked off their season last week with Lechia Gdansk losing their opening game 3-0 to Wisla Plock and Rapid Vienna winning theirs 1-0.

Lechia Gdansk come into this fixture after beating Akademija Pandev 6-2 on aggregate in the first round of qualifying and will be hoping they can continue their attacking form in this round. They had a mixed pre-season with losses to Shakhtar Donetsk and Rakow and will be looking to properly kick start their season with a win.

Rapid Vienna started their season well with an opening day win vs Ried and an Austrian Cup first round win vs Treibach. They had a good pre-season with a win against Lafnitz and a draw with Celtic. They have made several good signings this summer, including Ferdy Druijf from AZ Alkmaar. Although Lechia Gdansk have the home advantage for this one, they come in on worse form then Rapid Vienna so we think the Austrian side may pip this one.

FK Tuzla City vs AZ Alkmaar – AZ Alkmaar win

AZ won this first leg meeting 1-0 and come into this one with a narrow advantage. Before this Tuzla City progressed after beating Tre Penne 8-0 on aggregate. The team from Bosnia and Herzegovina finished second in the league last season and are yet to start their 22/23 league campaign. They had a pretty average pre-season, drawing both their fixtures 1-1. They will be hoping they can pull off a massive feat by knocking AZ out of the Conference League and will be looking to draw on home crowd advantage to do so.

AZ Alkmaar come into this as heavy favourites. The Dutch side topped their Conference league group and made it to the round of 16, being knocked out by Bodø/Glimt. They will be looking to have the same group stage this time round but first need to overcome their Bosnian opponents to reach the third round of qualifying. With such a gulf in class between these two, AZ should be the obvious winners.
