Qarabag vs Ferencvaros – Ferencvaros win

The last time Qarabag were in the Champions League was 2017/18 season, they finished bottom of the table but pulled of two incredible draws vs Atletico Madrid. They have spent the last two seasons in the Europa League and Conference League and came second in their Conference League group last year, eventually being knocked out by Marseille in the knockout rounds. The Azerbaijani team have good experience in Europe and will hope to draw on that in this fixture.

Ferencvaros come off the back of a season where they won their fourth Hungarian Championship in a row. They got their 22/23 season off to a good start at the weekend, beating title rivals Puskas Akademia 1-0 at home with a stoppage time winner.

They have good experience in European competitions. They made the group stage as recently as 2020 where they played both Barcelona and Juventus, and they made the group stages of the Europa League last season. Although they are away from home, we think they have enough quality and experience in Europe to clinch this one.

Maccabi Haifa vs Apollon Limassol – Maccabi Haifa win

Maccabi Haifa are the reigning Israeli champions who are looking to make it three titles in a row this season. They competed in the Conference League last season, only narrowly failing to make it out of a tough group consisting of Feyenoord, Salvia Prague and Union Berlin. They beat Olympiacos 4-0 away from home and 5-1 on aggregate to progress to this round and will be looking to continue this hot form against their Cypriot counterparts.

The Cypriot champions come into this game off the back of a poor pre-season that consisted of two losses in three games and will be starting their season off against Maccabi Haifa. They haven’t made the group stages of a European competition since 2018 where they only just missed out on knockout football after playing in a group alongside Frankfurt, Marseille and Lazio.

They will be hoping they can get their season of to a good start and reach the European group stages once more, but they face a difficult battle against a team in hot form. Because of this, we think Maccabi Haifa win this easily.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Sturm Graz – Dynamo Kyiv win

The Ukrainian side competed in the Champions League group stages last year but failed to make it out of a difficult group consisting of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Benfica. They are regulars in this competition having appeared in the group stages four times since 2015 and will be hoping their experience can help them progress once more.

They are in decent from, beating Fenerbahce in the second round of qualifying and have been playing a lot of friendlies over the past several months to keep fit due to the suspension of the Ukrainian Premier League.

Sturm Graz were runners up in the Austrian Bundesliga last season and got their 22/23 campaign off to a good start beating RB Salzburg 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Wolfsberg in their opening fixtures. They had a pretty poor Europa League last season, finishing rock bottom of their group and will be hoping they can do much better this year. Because of their experience in the competition, the Ukrainian side are the smart choice here.
