With the La Liga and Serie A set to start this weekend we take a closer look at who the favourites are and give our assessment on who will win their respective leagues.
La Liga - Winner
La Liga: Real Madrid best price 5/4
It’ll be hard to look anywhere else besides last year’s La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are currently strong favourites to win La Liga again and can be found at the best price of 5/4. The Italian recently added another trophy to his resume in the form of the Super League and will be happy with the club’s transfer business so far.
The Los Blancos were able to secure the services of Chelsea fan favourite Antonio Rüdiger to add depth in the centre-back and left-back position and they were also able to get the talents of young French midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni from Monaco. These signings have only made Real stronger, and they were able to thin their bloated squad with the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and Jovic all off the books.
Next on the list is Barcelona who can be backed at 11/8 and with a host of signings still not technically registered this feels like a very short price. Barca’s transfer business has been impressive with the signings of Raphinha, Jules Koundé, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen but all of them are still not registered by the club, meaning that they will more than likely not be able to play the opening fixtures for Xavi. This disorganisation is very dangerous for the club and could certainly affect how they play in the season.
Serie A - Winner
Serie A: Roma best price 8/1
The Milan clubs have dominated Serie A in the last two season with Inter Milan winning in 2020/21 and AC Milan the current champions after claiming the 2021/22 title.
Inter Milan are the current favourites in the market at 7/4 and with the return of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea you can see why the bookies have confidence in Simone Inzaghi’s side. After them it is Juventus who can be found at 9/4 and the Old Lady are trying to return to glory after a disappointing year last year with just a fourth-place finish to their name.
The current title holders AC Milan are a best price of 9/2 and will be looking to recreate their title-winning year last year. They have welcomed Liverpool’s Divock Origi to the club, giving them extra cover in the forward area, but more importantly, they have so far retained key players such as Rafael Leão, Sandro Tonali and Fikayo Tomori.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma were able to secure a top six finish last year and won the inaugural Europa Conference League as well. Mourinho has certainly had a good transfer window after securing the services of Pablo Dybala, Georginio Wijnaldum and Zeki Celik.
This was always going to be a project for Roma and Mourinho but they certainly seem to be trending in the right way. With Serie A closer than what most people will realise and currently the best price of 8/1 Roma could certainly be dark horses.
