Brighton win + over 2.5 goals

Brighton travel to Forest Green for the second round of the EFL Cup and will be looking to build upon an impressive 2-0 victory against West Ham at the weekend.

Forest Green got promoted to League One last year and have struggled so far, with their only win coming in the opening day against Bristol Rovers. Since then, they have seen over 2.5 goals in two of their last three league games.

Brighton will most likely change the majority of their starting 11 that faced West Ham on the weekend, and with the likes of Neal Maupay, Denis Undav and new signing Pervis Estupinan set to start, we believe the Seagulls will have to much going forward for Ian Burchnall’s men.

Leeds win + over 2.5 goals

Leeds United and Barnsley face off in a Yorkshire derby on Wednesday and both teams will be hoping to progress to the third round of the EFL Cup.

There was a lot of fear surrounding Leeds United with the loss of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha during the summer transfer window, but Jesse Marsch has worked wonders so far, having picked up seven points from nine in the league, including most recently a 3-0 thrashing of Chelsea.

Barnsley were relegated to League One last year and the Tykes were one of the favourites to come back up but have started the season with mixed results, having won two but lost three in the five league games they have played.

Michael Duff’s men lost 3-0 to Wycombe at the weekend and, coming to a buoyant Elland Road, could see the same result again.

Bristol City win

Gareth Ainsworth’s League One Wycombe face off against Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City on Wednesday evening.

Nigel Pearson is a manager who has won this competition when he was at Sheffield Wednesday as a player and suffered two final defeats when he was Middlesbrough's manager. Pearson certainly takes this competition seriously and named a strong 11 in the last round, so the same should be expected on Wednesday.

Despite the 3-0 thrashing of Barnsley, Wycombe have been on the back of some indifferent results having lost 2-1 to Shrewsbury, 3-1 to Exeter and 3-0 to Bolton.

We fancy Pearson’s history with this competition, and the Championship quality Bristol City possesses should make this a comfortable win.
